So far, this summer has been (as Scott would say…) AWESOME! A perfect combo of busy and lazy. We have been hiking, swimming, going to the weekly free movie at Riverwalk, sleeping in, splash park with friends and taking each week as it comes.

Because I am crazy, I have no pictures of swimming so far, but this year with the kids has been so fun. Scott is swimming completely on his own. ON HIS OWN. My future life as a pool mom in the shade reading is so close I can taste it. He is going off the HIGH DIVE  and swimming to the edge ALONE. That is big stuff people. Nate is faux swimming/almost drowning like a pro also. Pictures will be captured and posted soon.

Here is the other stuff we have been up to…

Hanging out at Mimi and Poppy's house.

Philbrook Family Fun Day. The kids LOVED it. We did a scavenger hunt and two art projects. Mike and I loved it too. We will definitely be making it a monthly outing.

I forced my children to give me birthday kisses.

The Kiddie Park in Bartlesville.

Mimi and Poppy with the kids.... What kind of mom lets her kids eat sno cones at 9 pm? A super smart kind.

Even the great grandparents can't resist the Kiddie Park.

Since our children are gifted they completed the summer reading program at the library on the first official day of summer. (PS Nate is really into picking out his own shoes right now. So don't judge me.)

Have I mentioned that I love summer? Well, I do. I am plotting ways to enjoy winter more. Yes, it is only June and I am trying to pep myself up for the winter months.

Birthday Buddy

June 14, 2011

Dearest Birthday Buddy,

Today you are 1 and I am 31. It is time to start ingraining in you why our birthday is the BEST day of the year.

1. It is our birthday (obviously).

2. It is flag day. Flag day is a national holiday. Therefore our birthday is a national holiday. All those flags that people are flying…. They’re for you baby girl (or just tell yourself that).

3. You were born in ’10, I was born in ’80. This sounds silly, but it will come in very useful later in life when you are trying to figure out how old you will be when or as you get really old how old you are in the moment. When will I turn 16? BAM, 2026! How old am I turning this year? BAM 31! How old was I in back in ’93? BAM 13!… Trust me, other unlucky folks have to do WAY more thinking.

4. June 14th is summer time. Summer time is the best season so it would only be fitting that the best holiday would be placed in the best season.

5. Our birthday is 6 months from Christmas. This will mean a lot to you in about 7 years. Every 6 months you get to ask for presents! Just think of those poor people that have to wait almost an entire year before their new present requests. And can you even imagine the pressure?! What if you forget something amazing? What if you have a November birthday and then in January they come out with the one thing you never knew you couldn’t live with out?! PHEW, we are so lucky.

Basically all you need to know… June 14th is the best day of the year.

I love you Campbell Hope Good. Enjoy your big day and give your mama a hug and kiss from me.

I am sad to say this is our only picture together. Isn't your mom a photographer or something?

PS Happy Birthday to my all my other Birthday Buddies out there! (Stacy!)

My Business Gun

June 11, 2011

Ooooohhh the conversations I get to over hear as a mom are the best. Nate has gotten very into pretending and his conversations with himself are alone hilarious, but when Scott gets in on the pretend play it gets even funnier. This is from two days ago….

Apparently, Scott was the dad and Nate was the baby… Please join me in prayer that Scott’s parenting skills improve.

Scott: OH, hi baby.

Nate: Hi Dad.

Scott: Okay, baby, I am going to do business now. You stay in the tent.

Nate: Okay daddy.

Scott: Oh, woops, I forgot my business gun. Now baby…. Don’t leave the tent while I am gone. Look at me! Don’t leave the tent while I am gone!

Nate: OKAY!

Scott: (exits tent and turns back around) DON’T LEAVE THE TENT! I’VE GOT MY EYE ON YOU BABY!

Nate: (silence)

Scott: Baby?

Nate: What?

Scott: Stay in the tent.

(Scott starts faux shooting and apparently taking care of his business with business gun)

Scott: You are a bad baby.

Nate: (fake crying)

Scott: You are now in time out FOREVER!

Nate: (fake cry) Okay daddy. I am so sorry.

Are you reading this wondering why I was letting Scott talk like that to Nate? Well, firstly, I was curious how the scene would play out. Secondly, they were getting along. NEVER interrupt a happy play session. Never. ever.

Happy Face Sad Face

June 7, 2011

Well, I failed for the first time last week on my New Year’s Resolution (actually I might have already been failing because I totally forgot about my “be less bossy” one. ). I jolted awake at 4 am on Sunday thinking, “I FORGOT MY WEEKLY BLOG”. I briefly considered getting up and posting a pic but then I realized that it was already the next week and so I missed my deadline no matter what, so I fell back asleep. To make up for it… I am going to try post twice this week.

Nate has perfected the angry pout face. It is hilarious. But if you laugh at him he rages. Scott on the other hand, couldn’t even make an angry face and kept cracking up. Sometimes technology really bugs me, but I have to say, some of my favorite pics and definitely some of my most favorite videos have been captured on an iPhone.
