Party Like You’re a Job’s Daughter

June 13, 2009

What I learned the last TWO weeks: (I decided not to learn anything last week in honor of girls weekend!)

1. Weaning hurts. Much more so this time around than last. I am finished nursing FOREVER. I am so happy to be able to say that.

2. Cleaning poop out of a bath tub triggers my gag reflex more than cleaning up pukers. It was disgusting. (note to self: do not feed Nate handfuls of dried berries the afternoon of bath night.)

3. Cream cheese is not freezable! It gets all crumbly.

4. There is a part of the masons called Job’s Daughters. You have to be in the blood line of a mason to become one. They have their own pageants and everything. We tried to find out more details, but it is all a little sketchy. Let’s just say, they are required to wear white robes to a ceremony once a week. A “ceremony”. Sppoookkky.

*If you happen to be a Job’s Daughter, please do not be offended. I am only relaying what I learned during cocktail hour at the Embassy Suites. I came across these facts by careful observation of your clan with three of my close associates and through numerous interviews with members of your sect.

5. Ebay is a wonderful place to score cloth napkins. I got two sets for an awesome price.

6. The new Old School Bagel Cafe on Brookside is as delicious as I predicted. I will be walking there frequently.

7. You know you are a mom (okay, maybe a dorky mom) when getting new MATCHING car seats makes you giddy.

8. I learned more about living a purposeful life from the movie UP than I have from any book I have read in a long time. It is wonderful. Even if you don’t have kids…you will think it is wonderful.

9. Every local car commercial here features the owners daughter. What is up with that? (and they all have blond hair)

10. My favorite color is still pink.

11. The section of the blog where you put the blogs you follow….has disappeared from my blog. Sigh, I sure with I knew someone who could help me out with these darned interwebs. Someone like, I don’t know… my husband…. sure wish I lived with someone who could help me. Sigh.

12. My laptop needs to be seriously detailed. It is gross. Is there somewhere that does that sort of thing?

13. I wish every weekend was my birthday weekend. (don’t tell me it wouldn’t be special if it was always my birthday weekend, I don’t buy that.)

14. I think 29 is going to be my best year ever. I can already feel the fabulousness oozing from it and my birthday isn’t even until tomorrow.

What did you learn this week? Or the last two weeks?

#4 Where do I even begin?! I can’t believe you found the official JD handbook! SCORE! Great spying fellow spy. And all of the weirdness was confirmed!

#8 WE LOVED the movie UP! I can’t wait to see it again. We also felt inspired and gained (or re-gained) perspective.

    What did I learn?
    1. I really do like cleaning with natural cleansers…I’ve cleaned almost my entire house with them…but really need to buy essential oil bc I don’t like the smell of vinegar.

    2. Ovulation Predictor Kits (OPKs) are a joke. (No offense if anyone has used one and it actually worked!)

    3. Infants sleep between 16-20 hrs a day! WOW!

    4. Running with one of your life long best friends is a blast=)

Had a blast last weekend. Can’t wait for the next JD convention so we can plan girl’s weekend around it=) Have a WONDERFUL b-day weekend!!! Bring on 29!!

What I learned this week and last:

    1) When my husband is gone my house stays cleaner.. I’m not real sure how that works because he isn’t here a lot of the time anyway, but for some reason it does.
2)When my sister is in town all my house work and schedules go out the door.
    3) The state of my house is a direct reflection of the state of me..I.E.. A clean house = a happy, relaxed me, a cluttered dirty house = a stressed out, cranky me.
    4) “up” is an awesome movie and everyone of all ages can enjoy and get something out of it….squirrel..
    5) I’m still really shy..and wish I wasn’t
6)My sister has informed me that I am very critical..I don’t think so but she says I am.
7)something I already knew but have been reminded of this week..I am easily distracted..

Erin! She said that they CAN – not that they do…but they can! Every time I go over there Peyton is asleep… so sounds good to me! She’s probably like a carissa baby…

I ALSO learned all about pipeless pedicure tubs…And the workers will pretend like they don’t speak English if you ask about them and they DON’T have them!!

**Martha – I learned that I am shy also! Weird huh?!

I have to say, I just love you! You have the best blog entries ever, and are so much fun. Why don’t we hang out?!

And where on where on Brookside is this new bagel place? It sounds yummy!

    THINGS I LEARNED THIS WEEK:
    1. Rushing muddy water along the side of busy Elm St in BA looks more like a fun cloudy creek to splash and play in than a dangerous roadside ditch.

    2. A 5 year old does not apply the warning about NOT cutting her sister’s My Little Pony’s hair to herself and her own hair 2+ years later.

    3. Home Depot sells the best Fly trap ever.

I’m sure there’s more, but my brain’s turned off for right now. LOL

  4. Melissa Says:

Ovulation test kits are a crock!!! I agree. And I only realized it when the pp said it. I have yet to see the LH surge. What’s up with that crap? Has anyone gotten them to work?

    • bethany Says:

Thank you Melissa! I feel like I just peed on a whole bunch of $$! I think it’s a money making scheme – I would love to know if someone has ever seen the LH surge!

  5. Liz Says:

I used to be a Rainbow girl! But, that being said, I still doubt I will be looking into Job’s Daughters. Also, it wasn’t my fav Pixar, but I still liked UP, AND Finn sat through the whole thing–which makes it pretty darn special.
p.s. Throughout the week I usually think in “I learned ____ this week” phrases–inspired by your blog. However, I never remember them long enough to write them here šŸ™‚

  6. Cori Says:

Martha- I agree about the house staying clean! I think it is because I don’t really cook while he is gone? I don’t know, it is weird phenomenon! Glad you are no longer a single lady!
Bekah- The bagel shop is around 38thish and Peoria, it is in the old dry cleaners that has been empty for awhile. Check it out.. you will like! Let’s hang out soon! I would love too. Maybe we can meet at the 41st and Riverside park??? Also, cracking up over the hair cutting!
Liz- What is your favorite Pixar? Just curious… Also, thinking in “What I learned” phrases has definitely helped me get less frustrated during annoying times!
Bethany- Let me know what essential oil you try and how it smells mixed with the vinegar….
